Employee Relations Manager

Holder Construction, an Atlanta based commercial construction company with operations throughout the United States, is seeking a highly motivated Employee Relations Manager to join our team in Atlanta, GA.

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate and manage employee relation issues on behalf of the company.
  • Develop effective relationships with HR Business Partners and other key stakeholders to ensure solutions are made collaboratively
  • Evaluate and refine existing company employee relations procedures. Establish new programs, policies, procedures, and best practices to promote fair and equitable employee relations and business decisions.
  • Ensure services are in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and laws.
  • Follow privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Research and explain laws and legal information concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees
  • Develop training for managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances
  • Conduct internal investigations for behavioral/workplace issues in a timely manner applying appropriate investigation plan, interviewing techniques with supporting documentation and outcome/conclusion summary
  • Understand and analyze information necessary to manage negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, company policies, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
  • Collaborate with company leadership, managers, supervisors, and legal counsel in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with employee and labor groups.
  • Provide detailed documentation, executive summaries and timelines written with precision and clear next steps and recommended remediation strategies.
  • Make decisions guided by policies with general oversight and direction.
  • Train, oversee, and develop any assigned staff.

 

Requirements for this position include:

  • Four-year college degree in Human Resources or business-related field
  • 7+ years of experience supporting Employee Relations efforts with extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and governmental compliance requirements
  • Track record of influencing and providing guidance to senior management about complex issues
  • Extensive experience conducting and managing investigations of complex and confidential workplace complaints.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
