Construction Recruiter

Holder Construction, an ENR top 100 Contractor, is seeking a Field Associate Recruiter for our Atlanta Office. We are seeking a detail-oriented Recruiter with expertise in affirmative action practices to recruit skilled carpenters and laborers for construction projects across the country. Role requires a deep understanding of the construction industry, particularly in carpentry and general labor, as well as knowledge of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity (EEO) regulations. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local affirmative action requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing & Recruitment:
    • Proactively source qualified carpenters and laborers from a variety of channels, including job boards, trade associations, social media platforms, local unions, and community-based organizations that align with affirmative action goals.
    • Build and maintain relationships with local trade schools, vocational programs, unions, and community outreach groups to promote opportunities for diverse candidates.
    • Post job openings on a range of platforms that target diverse and inclusive candidate pools, including those that focus on minority, women, and veteran applicants.
  • Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity:
    • Support affirmative action recruitment strategies to meet company goals and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EEO regulations.
    • Track and analyze workforce diversity metrics, ensuring that recruitment efforts are aligned with affirmative action objectives.
    • Promote inclusive recruitment practices to encourage a diverse range of candidates, including underrepresented groups, to apply for carpenter and laborer roles.
    • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to affirmative action, EEO, and workforce diversity.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with Field Supervision to understand project staffing needs and ensure recruitment aligns with affirmative action goals.
    • Educate hiring managers on best practices for recruiting diverse candidates and ensuring compliance with affirmative action and EEO policies.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations to hiring managers on candidate fit, highlighting diverse candidate pools where applicable.
  • Market Research & Trends:
    • Stay up to date on best practices for affirmative action recruiting, particularly within the construction industry.
    • Analyze industry trends to ensure competitive and inclusive compensation packages for carpenters and laborers.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of recruitment activities, interviews, and hires, in compliance with affirmative action guidelines.
    • Prepare regular reports on recruitment and diversity progress for senior leadership, tracking metrics such as diversity hiring, time-to-fill, and compliance with affirmative action goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years’ experience in recruiting for skilled trades positions, particularly carpenters and laborers, within the construction industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with affirmative action principles, EEO compliance, and diversity and inclusion strategies.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to affirmative action, diversity, and employment practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple recruitment efforts simultaneously.
  • Proficient in using recruitment platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and social media for sourcing candidates.
  • Ability to analyze and report on recruitment data, focusing on diversity and affirmative action metrics.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an affirmative action or diversity-focused role, particularly within the construction industry.
  • Experience working with trade schools, and community organizations that support underrepresented groups in the trades.
  • Knowledge of construction certifications, trade apprenticeships, and industry-specific training programs.
  • Familiarity with HR software and ATS tools for managing recruitment pipelines and compliance reporting.
