Four Seasons Costa Rica

Four Seasons Costa Rica was the first resort built in the Peninsula de Papagayo development. The project is located in the Guanacaste Region of Costa Rica on the Northern Pacific Coast just south of Nicaragua, flanked on both sides by unspoiled wilderness.  The development consists of 14 deluxe suites, 20 residences, 4 deluxe residences, one presidential suite, 20 residence club and three guest room buildings. In addition to the 240 rooms, the main building includes two restaurants, a spa, meeting rooms, ballroom, guest services, kitchen, laundry, and central plant.  Adjacent to the Main Building is a three-tiered pool stretching 100 meters wide from beach to beach.  Guests and owners will be escorted throughout the project via golf carts on paver trails to help reduce the impacts of gas powered vehicles on the environment.

Holder provided Construction Management services overseeing a local General Contractor and hundreds of trades. Preconstruction of this five-star, five-diamond hotel lasted eight months.  The construction was complete in twenty-six months.  The building structures are constructed from CMU, steel, and precast.  A notable challenge was the proximity of the buildings to the surrounding 45 acres of tropical dry forest.  The Project Team worked carefully to protect the adjacent environment still working to maximize the efficiency of the project.

The project included unique interior finishes that incorporated the outdoors into the interior spaces.  Materials such as coconut wood and bamboo were installed, and colors and textures were designed to echo the flora and fauna of the surrounding area.
