The OptiGlobe Communications Data Centers located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a $101.9 million project that consists of three data centers totaling 370,000 square feet. Holder Construction Company provided design and construction management services and assisted OptiGlobe Communications in selecting and negotiating a local general contractor for each of these projects.  Each of these facilities, designed by Ellerbe Becket from Minneapolis, Minnesota, are designed and constructed to provide OptiGlobe Communications with co-location and web-hosting capability. The designs of these facilities are N+1 for both mechanical and electrical systems. The facilities are designed to be fault tolerant and concurrently maintainable.

The first project located in Sao Paulo, Brazil was a conversion of an existing warehouse into co-location, web-hosting facility. The total project size is 153,000 SF, this includes approximately 71,000 SF of raised floor and extensive office space that OptiGlobe Communications will use to support all of their South American operations. The facility has a Day One capacity of 30 watts/square foot and an ultimate load capacity of 45 watts/square foot.

The second facility located in Buenos Aires, Argentina is greenfield construction and is a one-story, precast concrete structure. The total project size is 113,000 SF with 60,000 SF of raised floor with some office space. This construction is Phase I of a potential 3 Phase expansion on this site.  The Buenos Aires facility was designed for a Day One capacity of 33 watts/square foot and ultimate capacity of 75 watts/square foot.

The third facility located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This project is also a greenfield construction project and is a one-story, precast concrete structure. The total project size is 104,000 SF with 60,000 SF of raised floor with minimal office space. This construction is Phase I of a potential 3 Phase expansion on this site. The Rio de Janeiro facility was designed a Day One capacity of 33 watts/square foot and ultimate capacity of 75 watts/square foot.
