Navy Federal Credit Union Is Certified LEEDŽ Gold - Florida's First Certified Commercial Green Building
Navy Federal Credit Union's new Pensacola Call Center has become Florida's first commercial building to receive LEEDŽ certification, making it a certified environmentally friendly building. The facility received the LEEDŽ Gold certification rating and is one of only 25 Gold-rated LEED projects in the United States. It is also the first credit union facility to receive LEEDŽ certification. Holder Construction broke ground on construction of the 56,000 square foot building in March of 2003 and completed the project by November - only eight months after construction began.
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a certification program developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) to assist with designing, constructing, and operating sustainable buildings. LEED recognizes "green buildings" as those that have used design and construction practices to significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and building occupants. Buildings are rated in five areas and can attain one of four levels of certification based upon the points received in each category. With close to 20% of its employees holding LEED accreditation, Holder Construction offers a wide range of sustainable services to assist clients in achieving their sustainable goals.
