Interface Showroom Earns LEED Platinum and Becomes the First LEED-CI Certified Project in the United States

January 30, 2005 - Interface Showroom in Atlanta, Georgia has been certified LEED Platinum, the highest possible rating in the LEED Rating System.  The project was designed under the guidelines of the LEED-CI (Commercial Interiors) pilot program.  It is the first LEED-CI certified project in the United States and one of only seven Platinum Certified projects in the world.

The Interface Showroom project achieved 47 points out of 57 to receive a platinum rating.  In order to meet this exceptional goal the Holder Construction and TVS Architects project team creatively designed and constructed a truly sustainable interior space.  Some key sustainable features include bamboo flooring and wheat board as the substrate for all millwork and veneer millwork.  Ten percent of all the materials were manufactured within a 500 mile radius of the building.  The project team deconstructed metal studs, insulation, hardware, doors, and hollow metal frames from the base building and reused in the new construction. The project also earned innovation points for the significant training effort provided to educate subcontractors on sustainable practices.
